Quicken 2003 Crashing on Quit Command

The problem with Intuit’s Quicken 2003 software is the 60-75% frequency of it crashing on quit. The problem with Intuit’s Quicken 2003 software is the 60-75% frequency of it crashing on quit. The error message, “the Application QUICKEN 2003 has unexpectedly quit…the system and other applications have not been affected” is provided without a specific error number. The same problem occurred with Quicken 2002 Deluxe.
I am using Quicken 2003 exclusively with Mac OS X (now 10.2.6.) When Quicken 2003 does not crash, the time stamp on the created backups are 1 hour later than EDST, e.g. 11:30 instead of 10:30. [EST is 1 hour earlier than EDST.] The original document seems to have the correct time stamp when there is a successful quit.
For the most part, the data and recent entries seem to be intact after the “unexpected quit,” but this has become a major challenge, and a source of high anxiety, especially after a lengthy session in Quicken 2003.
I have had multiple conferences with Intuit online support staff who were unable to provide a lasting solution. They, of course, provided the standard recommendations of trashing the preferences, COMMAND-option-B to reconstruct lists, COMMAND-option-U to recalculate portfolio, and “save a copy” from file menu. Uninstalling and re-installing Quicken 2003 r4 was no help either.
Somewhere I noted a possible incompatibility between Quicken 2003 and MS Office, so I also re-installed Office. I believe the problem is related to Quicken 2003, but have found no viable alternative.
Perhaps Intuit is even planning to drop Quicken 2003, as they did not offer the Quicken 2003 Deluxe for the Mac, and their support has not been helpful, even when I purchased Quicken 2003 from them in an attempt to correct the same problem in Quicken 2002 Deluxe. The call-in help line felt that there is a system problem with OS X and kissed me off.
