Rumor Mill: Next-Generation Apple Laptops

The rumor mill finally has something to mill again: tantalizing reports of speed bumps for our favorite laptops.

The rumor mill finally has something to mill again: tantalizing reports of speed bumps for our favorite laptops. MacNN today reports that its own sources suggest speed bumps for PowerBook and iBook by the end of this month, with TiBooks getting 667MHz and 550MHz G4s, larger harddrives (20GB/30GB), a Radeon Mobility graphics processor, Gigabit ethernet, and a bundled AirPort card. MacNN reports iBook will get a 600MHz G3 processor, larger hard drives (15GB/15GB/20GB), and more memory (128MB). MacOS Rumors, meanwhile, casts some doubt on these predictions, with an extended report on technical challenges to upgrade the Ti, though the report also suggests a revision is imminent.
