Safari Gets a Blazing Start

SafariSince its announcement I have been using Apple’s new Safari Web browser almost exclusively and it positively screams! Noticeably faster than Chimera. If Apple added tabs, toolbar customizability and better support for Filemaker’s Web Companion (and other sites requiring a login), I’ll never look back.

What has your experience been? What sites work and don’t? Be sure to report bugs using the bug button in the upper right corner of Safari.

We were more than a little surprised at our recent internal Safari stats at PowerPage.org:

On Jan 7, 2003:

  • 690,107 total hits
  • 121,857 safari hits (that’s 17.66%)

First hit on Jan 7, 2003 was at 11:11:04 PST

The first time we see a Safari request on PowerPage’s logs was on 02/Jan/2003 at 08:12:46 PST

It was from Apple.com:

www.powerpage.org 1 (IP deleted) – – [02/Jan/2003:08:12:46 -0800] “GET / HTTP/1.0” “text/html” 200 45869 “-” “Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/47 (like Gecko) Safari/47″
