I visited the Pasadena California Apple Store today, anxious to see an actual 17″ Powerbook G4 for the first time. The clerk said “We have two of them, sealed in their shipping boxes, which are available for purchase right now, but we don’t have any to display.” He added that they are trickling in at the rate of a few a day, and are generally sold out within a few hours of their arrival. They don’t want to “waste” a unit by putting it out on display when they could just sell it. Now THAT is confidence!
Ed: Here in New York, there is one 17″ machine rotating in the window at the SoHo store, but that’s it. Hopefully production will ramp up soon! -PK
