Shhh… be Quiet!

A Washington Post article discusses Amtrak Rail and how they offer cell phone and laptop free rail service. One car per train is technology free offering quiet surroundings for passengers who don’t want to be disturbed. My understanding is people talk a least twice as loud as normal when on the cell phone, which can be quite annoying at 6:30am or anytime for that matter. Amtrak has tried the quiet car concept for a year now, on a Philly to D.C. train. It has been successful and Amtrak is expanding the quiet cars on other rail routes.

What’s the deal with shouting while on the cell phone? Do you notice this trend?
