  • Apple releases Mac OS X 10.7.3 build 11D46 to developer community

    Hold your horses, Mac OS X 10.7.3 will get here eventually.

    Per The Unofficial Apple Weblog, Apple has released build 11D46 of its anticipated Mac OS X 10.7.3 update. The build, a 1.2 GB combo update / 989 MB delta update, focuses on iCloud document storage, Address Book, iCal, Mail, Spotlight and Safari.

    The last seed was released a week ago. Apple released Mac OS X 10.7.2 to the general public in October, which added iCloud support.

  • Adobe Reader, Adobe Reader Pro updated to 10.1.2

    On Wednesday, Adobe released version 10.1.2 of its Adobe Reader application. The update, which can also be snagged through the Adobe Update Utility, adds the following fixes and changes:

    – On printing a PDF file to a PCL printer via Acrobat or Reader, the italic output in the printout is not correct.

    – Mouseover events in interactive PDF form fields do not work properly (Applicable only to Acrobat/Reader10.1.1).

    – 3D PDFs may crash when viewed in VMWare.

    – Policy protected file keeps incrementing *.DAT file in …Acrobat10.0Security and results in Reader X crashing when closing the file.

    – When converting a webpage having a scrollable inline frame only the visible content is converted and content seen on scrolling down is dropped.

    – Form submission performance is slow with ZCI on Reader 10.1.

    – Product view generated in Catia hides some elements when converted to prw/pdf.

    – Repeatedly opening and closing PDFs in one browser session may cause a freeze or crash.

    – Form goes into unresponsive state when signing form.

    – Fixed critical security vulnerabilities in Versions 10.1.1 and earlier.

    – Improved stability.

    – Support for Mac OS X 10.7.2.

    – Web Capture for Firefox 7 and later.

    Acrobat Reader 10.1.2 and Acrobat Pro requires an Intel-based processor and Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later to install and run.

  • Apple releases updated Mac OS X 10.7.3 beta to developer community

    Apple on Tuesday issued a new beta version of Mac OS X 10.7.3, labeled build 11D36, to developers for testing.

    Per AppleInsider, sources familiar with Apple’s seed notes for the release, focus areas for the beta include iCloud Document Storage, Address Book, iCal, Mail, Spotlight and Safari. The build was reportedly seeded with no known issues.

    The combo update is a 1.25GB download, while the delta version weighs 986.68MB.

    Developer releases of Mac OS X 10.7.3 have come fairly regularly in recent weeks, with the previous build, labeled 11D33, arriving on Dec. 15. Apple began testing the update in mid-November.

    Earlier this month, beta drivers for AMD’s next-generation graphics cards were discovered in a beta build of the update. AMD’s new cards, which are expected to arrive on the market in the first quarter of 2012, could power a future iteration of the Mac Pro, though Apple is believed to be debating whether to continue making its full-sized workstation line.

    Apple released OS X 10.7.2 in October, adding iCloud support to the desktop OS.

  • Apple releases Thunderbolt Display firmware 1.1

    Released alongside the iTunes update is a new version of the Thunderbolt Display’s firmware, bringing it up to version 1.1.

    Per AppleInsider, the update addresses fan noise issues some users have been experiencing as well as overall stability improvements.

    The download comes in at 942 KB and requires either Mac OS X 10.6.8 or OS X Lion 10.7.2 or later to install and run.

  • VMWare releases Fusion 4.1.0 update

    On Friday, virtualization softare maker VMWare released version 4.1.0 of its Fusion software for the Mac.

    Similar to other virtualization software packages, VMWare allows users to run alternate operating systems such as Windows and Linux distributions on Intel-based Macs at native speeds. Other features, such as Unity, allow users to run and minimize Windows applications from the Mac OS X Dock.

    The new version, a 180 megabyte download, can be found here and offers the following fixes and changes:

    – Smart Full Screen.

    – The Return of automatically powering on favorite virtual machines: – We removed this feature in VMware Fusion 4 and you really wanted it back. Virtual machines can now be powered on automatically when VMware Fusion starts. This can be set for each virtual machine under Settings > General.

    – Greatly improved graphics performance for Internet Explorer 9 with hardware accelerated graphics are up to 6x faster than VMware Fusion 4.

    – Improved rendering correctness in Solidworks 2012.

    – Improved graphics performance when using Mac OS X 10.7.2.

    – Improved animations for full screen mode, unity mode, library and snapshots.

    – Improved startup time with Windows 7 virtual machines.

    – Mac OS X 10.7 Lion as a guest just got better: – Improved Mac OS X 10.7 Lion virtual machine support including smoother mouse movement and support for FileVault 2 when using Mac OS X 10.7.2 and later.

    Fusion 4.1.0 retails for US$49.99 and requires an Intel-based Mac, 2 GB of RAM, Mac OS X 10.6.7 or later (10.7 recommended) and a copy of Windows (if you’ll be installing Windows).
