  • Apple Maps now includes public transit data for Las Vegas area, neighboring regions

    Apple Maps now covers the public transit systems for Vegas and its surrounding areas.

    On Monday, Apple added Las Vegas and surrounding areas to its Apple Maps data list, allowing users to snag times, stops, and routes for options like the Las Vegas Monorail and RTC Transit buses as needed. These include the special Deuce and SDX shuttles, which cater to people touring the Strip and downtown landmarks like the Las Vegas Convention Center.

    Other newly-added regions include Reno, Sparks and Carson City, complete with bus directions for RTC Wash and Jump Around Carson. On a state level people can get around using Silverado Mainline buses, or existing options like Amtrak trains.

  • Apple Pay expected to arrive in Ukraine come Q2 of 2018

    It looks like Apple Pay is en route to the Ukraine come next year.

    An Alfa-Bank executive stated that Apple Pay should arrive in the Ukraine in the second quarter of 2018.

    The head of Alfa-Bank Ukraine’s e-business, Maxim Patrin, cited an anonymous source from one of the payment systems operating in the country. Alfa-Bank is based primarily in Russia, and may be better known to U.S. readers for alleged ties to U.S. President Donald Trump.

  • Shipping times slip for 15-inch MacBook Pro, offering new hopes for updated model announcement at WWDC

    When the shipping times slip, odds are something new is around the corner.

    Apple has changed the shipping times for current 15-inch MacBook Pro orders placed today, the new estimates offering free delivery between June 6-8 in the United States, coinciding with its Worldwide Developers Conference next week.

    This delay lends support to the rumor that Apple is planning to announce both a new MacBook Pro and 12-inch MacBook notebook at the WWDC keynote on June 5. The notebooks are expected to receive internal improvements only, including an upgrade to Intel’s faster Kaby Lake processors.

  • Apple Pay goes live in Italy

    Apple Pay has come to Italy.

    The service is now available within the country, allowing for Visa and MasterCards issued by Boon, Carrefour, and UniCredit to be used with Apple Pay in Italy. Per the Apple Pay web site, support for additional banks will be added later this year.

    Rumors of Apple Pay’s expansion to Italy have been circulating for several weeks as Apple worked to add support for its payments service in the country, and the service has been listed as “Coming Soon” on the Apple Pay Italy site since March.
