  • Rumor: Next-gen iPhone to feature improvements to receiver, stereo sound, waterproofing

    Amidst all the rumors, there’s got to be a nugget of truth in here somewhere.

    Apple’s next-gen iPhone is said to feature an “enhanced receiver” with “further improvements” to stereo sound and waterproofing, according to new research shared this week by JPMorgan analysts, who track the company’s supply chain in the Asia-Pacific region.

    As of now, the receiver is embedded in the slim, meshed earpiece cutout above the screen that the user holds against their ear during a phone call. Since the iPhone 7, it has doubled as a full-out speaker. With two speakers, Apple says the iPhone 7 delivers two times the audio output of an iPhone 6s with increased dynamic range.

  • Dropbox updated to 2.2.0

    It’s hard to dislike a good bug fix.

    On Thursday, Dropbox released version 2.2.0 of its cloud-based storage client for Mac OS X. The new version, a 31 megabyte download (via MacUpdate), which adds the following fixes and changes:
    – New notifications badge.

    – Refactoring of core sync engine.

    – Improved memory usage.

    – Startup performance improvements.

    – Finder icon overlay improvements.

    Dropbox 2.2.0 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later to install and run.

  • Google Chrome updated to 25.0.1364.172

    On Wednesday, Google released version 25.0.1364.172 of its Chrome web browser. The update, a 48.8 megabyte download, adds the following fixes and changes:

    – This release contains stability improvements, and a new version of Adobe Flash.

    Onyx, Titanium Software’s popular freeware multifunction utility for Mac OS X, has been updated to version 2.3.0. The new version, a 18.8 megabyte download (courtesy of MacUpdate), adds the following fixes and changes:

    – Bug while deleting the Safari cookies corrected.

    – Some little improvements.
