  • Purported 2018 iPhone images indicate larger screen sizes, Face ID notches for all three models

A leaked photo shows what seems to be the front glass panel for the three 2018 iPhone models. The picture shows somewhat larger iPhone screen sizes for all three models as well as all three models receiving get the iPhone X-style notch.

The photo arrives courtesy of Ben Geskin, who also released early leaks for the iPhone X in 2017.

Per Geskin’s post, Apple is releasing 5.8-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.5-inch iPhone models this fall. They’re the iPhone, iPhone X, and iPhone X Plus, respectively.

  • Apple officially acknowledges issues with butterfly keyboard design on current MacBook, MacBook Pro notebooks, offers four year warranty to address issue

After a fair amount of hemming and hawing, Apple has officially acknowledged that there are problems with its “butterfly” mechanism built into the keyboards of the recent MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks. The company is now offering an extended keyboard service program for computers affected by the issue.

The extended warranty covers replacement of one or more keys or the whole keyboard, depending on the extent of users’ problems, and it covers eligible laptops up to four years after the computer was bought at retail. Each MacBook and MacBook Pro notebook equipped with the keyboard seems to be included. The four year warranty is dramatically longer than the limited warranty the computers ship with or even Apple’s extended AppleCare Plus.

  • Rumor: Apple looking to new supplier to improve battery charge times for next-gen iPhone models

The next-gen iPhone could feature even speedier charging.

According to a new rumor, Apple might team up with new suppliers who can provide higher-powered charging components. The upgrade should finally allow the iPhone to compete with its Android rivals when it comes to charging speed.

The iPhone models have historically beaten out most of their competitors when it comes to battery life, but once that battery is dead and needs charging, Apple devices typically take much longer to reach full capacity.

  • Rumor: Leaked schematics published for 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus and 6.1-inch iPhone X “budget” model

A group of leaked schematics may have revealed the size of the next-gen iPhone X. A 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus may be in the works alongside a “budget” 6.1-inch iPhone. The schematics come by way of Forbes contributor Gordon Kelly in collaboration with case-maker Ghostek.

The upcoming flagship iPhone (the iPhone X Plus?) will have a 6.5-inch 19:9 OLED screen in a body measuring 157.2 x 77.1mm. That’s more compact than the current iPhone 8 Plus’ 158.4 x 78.1mm.

The rumor mill also has it that the 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus will use a steel chassis, thereby weighing more than the iPhone 8 Plus’ 202 grams.

  • Rumor: iPhone X Plus screen size discovered via network traffic, device resolution reports

While Apple didn’t unveil any new hardware at its WWDC 2018 keynote, the rumor mill currently has it that the iPhone X Plus, which is expected later this year, will feature a 6.5-inch OLED screen, making it about as big as the current iPhone 8 Plus.

Apple started testing iOS 12 builds in the wild as recently as late February, when Google Analytics first picked up visits from devices running iOS 12. The number of visits increased as June approached. It’s likely that Apple engineers tested early iOS 12 builds on various devices well ahead of the WWDC event. And while you can safely test iOS 12 out in the wild if you’re an Apple engineer since regular users will not immediately spot it, you can’t always fool analytics programs.

Even if some of those were fake iOS 12 devices, a good number of those visits still came from devices that you can quickly identify as iPhones and iPads checking in from Apple. Looking at screen resolution alone, one could easily identify visits from iPhone X, iPhone 8/7/6sPlus/6s/6Plus/6, iPhone 8Plus/7Plus, 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 10.5-inch iPad Pro, iPhone SE, and — finally — iPhone X Plus
