  • Apple Camp applications go live, sessions available for kids ages 8 to 12

    If you’re looking for something cool for your kids to do this summer, Apple Camp might be the answer.

    Applications for Apple Camp opened on Monday, the camp being available to children aged between 8 and 12 in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

    The camps, which are based out of Apple Store locations, are crafted from three sessions, each session lasting 90 minutes, some of the sessions including the following:

    • Creating Your Own Song with GarageBand
    • Designing Your Dream Park with iPad
    • Coding Fundamentals and Programming Robots
    • Directing Your Own Movie with Clips and iMovie

    Parents and legal guardians can apply via Apple’s web site.

  • Apple signs 10-year lease for 300,000+ square feet of industrial manufacturing space, reasons for expansion currently unknown

    Apple has apparently signed a 10-year lease on 313,978 square feet of industrial manufacturing space in Milpitas, California. While it’s not yet known what Apple intends to do with the space, as it could be used for manufacturing, research and development, or warehousing needs.

    This also comes at a strange time frame for Apple, especially given that Silicon Valley warehousing space is in short supply at the moment. With the lease, total vacancy for these types of properties in the area drops from 1.5 percent to 0.7 percent.

    The deal could also mark Apple speculating that it could require all this space. As such, the company might feel it’s best to lease it now, when prices might be cheaper.

  • Apple Camp registration opens for Summer 2018 program

    Apple has kicked off registration for its free annual three-day Apple Camp event, in which kids between the ages of 8 and 12 can partake in hands-on projects at Apple retail locations by choosing one of three tracks and spending 90 minutes per day for three days “immersed in their chosen subject.”

    The three programs include “Coding with Sphero Robots”, “Beat Making and Songwriting with GarageBand”, and “Telling Stories with Clips” and offered the following descriptions for each program:

  • Apple posts dates for Apple Camp, Kids Hour summer programs

    I wish I’d had this during my summers when I was a kid.

    Apple on Tuesday announced its multi-day summer camp sessions, entitled “Apple Camp,” which goes along with the special kid-focused Today at Apple creative workshops. Apple Camp and Today at Apple sessions are free, but space is limited, so you’ll want to grab a slot while you can.

    The programs are available at your local Apple store.

    Apple Camp itself runs as a three-day program that includes 90-minute sessions for kids age 8 to 12 years old. Apple offers three different sessions: Coding Games and Programming Robots; Creating Characters and Composing Music; and Stories in Motion with iMovie.

  • Rumor: Apple looking to integrate public transit information into Maps

    Apple Maps could be reborn with mass transit directions built in.

    New rumors have stated that Apple could introduce bus, subway, and train route navigation to Apple Maps.

    The rumors have focused on larger icons for mass transit facilities along with a Transit view alongside the Standard, Hybrid, and Satellite/Flyover views, and a trip-planning feature. Apple is also reportedly using autonomous robots to map out large buildings, a feature that may or may not be part of iOS 9 Apple Maps.
