iOS 14.5 developer beta 2 released, includes as many as 217 new emojis

With the second developer beta of iOS having been released, it looks like there could be as many as 217 new emojis en route.

Key among these are new faces, new hearts, and broader gender options, as well as those for couples with mixed skin tones. Perhaps the most notable though is the change to the syringe emoji, which now has nothing in it, meaning it can be better used to signify COVID-19 vaccines.

If you’re currently subscribed to the Apple Developer program, iOS 14.5 developer beta 2 is available in Software Updates.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.

    This is interesting.

Medical company DexCom says that a glucose monitor made by the company that monitors blood sugar levels will be supported by the Apple Watch. The company is currently working on an app for the wearable that will be able to show blood sugar levels at a glance and can monitor them continuously.

The app has apparently been under construction for some time and while the Food and Drug Administration is generally required to approve new medical hardware, a hands-off approach to the companion app has allowed developers to sink their teeth into its creation for the time being.
