  • iOS 14.2 beta offers additional confirmation that iPhone 12 may not include EarPods in box

It’s the betas that hint at what’s coming.

The latest public beta of iOS 14.2 has offered indications that Apple won’t be including EarPods within the iPhone 12’s box. It’s also thought this will apply to future iPods as well. For years, Apple has included a pair of headphones in the iPhone’s box.

A number of testers also noticed that the operating system code has generally included a reference to the headphone. Instead, the iOS 14.2 reference has been dropped, the box offering the following text:

To reduce exposure to RF energy, use a hands-free option, such as the built-in speakerphone, headphones, or other similar accessories.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
