The Head Job: Combo Drive Upgrade $100 Too Much

Apple knows it will always have the faithful to count on to cream off the extra margin. Sigh. Early adopters always pay. Ouch. US$300 is not too much for the TiBook Combo drive upgrade if one considers the labor and the cost of the drive BUT Apple does get back a fully functional DVD-ROM drive in most cases to recycle as a spare. Additionally, optical drives have more problems than hard drives which themselves should not be expected to be trouble-free much longer than two years under heavy usage. US$200 would make it a no brainer for many TiBook purchasers. How about it Apple? It will boost goodwill, increase volume of persons making the conversion.
