Verizon activates eSIM support for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR handsets

U.S. carrier Verizon has begun activating eSIM lines for Apple’s dual-SIM iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max handsets.

Reports of the new activations have begun arriving via subscribers, with Verizon confirming support via Twitter.

To add an eSIM line, the carrier is directing people to the “Join Now” option in the My Verizon app. People using two lines will see the signal status of the second line in Control Center.

Apple enabled eSIM support for the 2018 model iPhones with the release of iOS 12.1 in October, but at the time, no major U.S. carrier was offering compatibility. AT&T finally began eSIM activations on Wednesday in parallel with the launch of iOS 12.1.1.

For new subscribers, it may take some effort to find a customer service representative who knows the eSIM activation procedure.

While Verizon and AT&T have activated eSIM support, wireless carriers Sprint and T-Mobile seem to have yet to bring this online. T-Mobile recently previewed its eSIM activation app ahead of a December release.

If you’ve been able to activate eSIM support for your 2018 model iPhone and have any feedback to offer, please let us know about your experience in the comments.
