A current rumor has it that the next-gen iPhone may include a slightly larger battery than the current generation iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. It’s been posted that the handset will ship with a 1735 mAH capacity and iPhone 7 Plus will feature a 2810 mAH battery. On both models, this is slightly more than the current-generation iPhones. The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have batteries with 1715 mAH and 2750 man, respectively.

The iPhone 7 is said to share a similar appearance to the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus models, but incorporate a thinner body and redesigned antennas. A major chassis design change is currently expected for the ‘iPhone 8’ in 2017.

The groundwork for 5G communications in the United States has begun.

Or at least the carrier frequencies are beginning to be sold, thus allowing the infrastructure to be built.

Recently, television stations have volunteered to sell off their 126MHz “beach front” wireless spectrum to mobile carriers in an ongoing U.S. Federal Communications Commission auction, potentially bringing higher speeds and more reliable networks to customers.

The 126MHz spectrum represents the largest anticipated block for 5G networks according to comments made by the FCC on Friday. The FCC also stated that it is looking to auction off 10 blocks of 10MHz to mobile carriers and other interested bidders.

The FBI is keeping the San Bernadino iPhone hack technique to itself for the time being.

A recent report has stated that the FBI will not be submitting the exploit used to break into the iPhone 5c of San Bernardino shooter Syed Rizwan Farook to a review process that could clear it for sharing with outside parties.

The FBI, which used a third party to unlock the iPhone, apparently didn’t acquire the rights to the technical details used in the hack, according to Amy Hess, the FBI’s executive assistant director for science and technology. As a result, Hess said the agency doesn’t “have enough technical information about any vulnerability” that could be considered for release.

Well, at least the iPhone SE is selling well.

While Apple has yet to divulge official sales numbers for the new handset, company executives said that demand for the device was “very strong” and higher than expected during this week’s earnings call.

As such, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company is working hard to meet demand and improve shipping times for the unit.

Even with Apple reporting lower Q2 revenue during its earnings call yesterday, the call signaling ts first revenue decline since 2003, there’s still some bright spots.

The company has announced that its Apple Music subscriber base has jumped to 13 million, up from 11 million in February.

This compares to about 30 million subscribers to leading competitor Spotify, although the service obviously had a multi-year headstart over Apple’s streaming service, which launched last June.

The good news is that Apple made billions and billions of dollars in profits last quarter.

The bad news is that this represents a lower profit than Q2 of 2015.

For the first time ever, iPhone sales fell for the quarter. While this doesn’t include iPhone SE sales, Apple reported its first quarterly revenue decline in 13 years on Tuesday, which came as no surprise to the company and the investors and analysts who closely follow its finances.

After more than a decade of amazing revenue and profit leaps, Apple reported $10.5 billion in profits on $50.6 billion in sales. iPhone sales were down, the company selling only 51.2 million units in Q2, this number falling short of the 61.2 million iPhone units sold in Q2 of 2015.

While it’s been estimated that the Apple Watch has sold 12 million units within the device’s launch year, it’s hard to know exactly how many have gone out the door or what’s in store for the next generation.

Either way, a new rumor has it that that Apple Watch 2 will include cellular connectivity and a beefier processor so apps will load more quickly. That might mean yet another data plan to pay for, but the watch would function on its own instead of being tethered to an iPhone.
