Logitech announces Powered wireless charging cradle for iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X units, cites that model was “co-designed” by Apple

This is pretty interesting.

Logitech, makers of assorted things that are nifty, has launched the Powered Wireless Charging Stand, an accessory built for the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X, with the unique bulletpoint of being designed “in collaboration” with Apple.

While it’s unclear as to what Apple’s specific design contributions were, the Powered features a unique U-shaped cradle that’s more in line with Apple’s design aesthetic. This design offers a “snug and comfortable fit”, per Logitech, although it’s unknown as to whether the stand will be able to fit Apple’s rumored 6.1- and 6.5-inch iPhones coming this fall alongside an updated 5.8-inch model.

The Powered can also handle the rumored iPhone models in a less secure landscape mode, where the U shape serves as two-point support.

The accessory will charge both Apple and non-Apple Qi wireless devices, but the latter only at 5 watts, whereas iPhones get access to faster 7.5-watt technology.

Logitech has begun taking preorders for the Powered units at a price of $69.99 with free shipping and should also be appearing on the shelves at Apple Store retail locations. No firm ship date has been set.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
