  • Rumor: Target could implement in-store Apple Pay support in near future

    After years of waiting, there are signs that Target may launch official support for Apple Pay at its stores in the near future.

    The technology is already working at the Metreon location in San Francisco, some posters on Twitter have claimed. Another noted that while they didn’t try Apple Pay, they were able to use a contactless card, which only works with NFC-enabled terminals.

    For years, Target has resisted both Apple Pay and NFC-based mobile payment options at its stores. While shoppers can use Apple Pay in the Target iOS app, its retail locations have only allowed a scannable barcode in the app.

  • Pre-order times list compiled for 2018 iPhone, Apple Watch models

    Pre-orders for the iPhone XS, XS Max, and Apple Watch Series 4 will kick off on Friday, September 14 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time, allowing customers to purchase one of Apple’s newly announced devices.

    With Apple planning to launch the new devices around the world simultaneously, here’s a list of when pre-orders will be accepted around the globe:

    Australia West – 3:01 p.m. AWST

    Australia East – 5:01 p.m. AEST

    Austria – 9:01 a.m. CEST

  • Apple Pay expansion paused in India, technical, financial regulations cited

    Apple has paused its speedy expansion of Apple Pay in India given issues with regulations. Despite talking with banks and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the plan has been put on hold.

    Apple is apparently worried about a recent data localization rule from the Reserve Bank of India. There have also been reported technical and design challenges related to NPCI’s Unified Payments Interface platform. One challenge was that Apple wanted to include Touch ID as an authentication factor for UPI payments, but NPCI didn’t agree to that. UPI’s mode of authentication is a four to six digit passcode.

    Late last week, Apple quietly launched an iPhone 8 Logic Board Replacement Program. The program addresses specific models produced between September 2017 and March 2018, and includes free repair and logic board replacement.

  • C-Spire, U.S. Cellular added to list of wireless carriers supporting the Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE

    If you’re looking to snag an LTE-equipped Apple Watch Series 3, you have a few more choices as to regional U.S. wireless carriers to choose from.

    C-Spire announced sales of the LTE Series 3 on Tuesday. The device is available not just online and at the carrier’s retail stores, but even via phone orders. New customers can get three months of Watch data free, after which the cost becomes $10 per month.

    C-Spire has also announced that the company is selling the Series 3 for half off in conjunction with the purchase of an iPhone.
