  • AT&T confirms move away from two-year contracts, iPhone subsidies beginning January 8th, 2016

    This will change your relationship with AT&T a bit.

    Starting on January 8, 2016, AT&T will introduce a “pricing simplification effort” that will see the end of device subsidies and two-year contracts. According to an internal training document shared by Engadget, new and existing AT&T customers will only be able to purchase a smartphone at full price or with an AT&T Next payment plan going forward.

    The leaked document states that the new rules apply to all of the phones AT&T sells, including smartphones, which will be paid for with new installment plans. Corporate users are said to be able to continue making two-year contract purchases, although it looks like this will change for the consumer market.

  • Rumor: Apple to revamp Genius Bar, workshops, associated web sites on Tuesday, August 25th

    The Genius Bar and its associated web site might be getting revamped in the new future.

    A rumor has stated that Apple will begin changing the Genius Bar and its corresponding web site as of Tuesday, August 25th. Through these changes, Apple reportedly plans to move Genius Bar online appointments pages from their separate “Concierge” site into individual Apple Store pages

    The new updated web-based service has also been re-written with a focus on accessibility and mobile devices. “Customers with visual or hearing impairments can more easily use the Concierge system,” Apple wrote in a note to retail employees about the upcoming change. As for mobile optimization, the new system will have a unique user interface depending on whether it is used on a desktop, smartphone, or tablet.

  • Report shows Apple taking 92% of smartphone industry profits on 20% market share

    There’s market share and there’s profits.

    And Apple seems to be gobbling up 92 percent of the latter.

    A report released by Canaccord Genuity indicate that Apple takes 92 percent of the profits for the entire smartphone industry despite accounting for only 20% of sales.

  • Google Slides app for iOS, Android updated, content can now be shared via Chromecast

    Google on Friday updated Google Slides for Android and iOS with streaming support via Chromecast and AirPlay to your TV.

    The update allows you to wirelessly share Google Slides content to the big screen. To do so, all you need is a smartphone or tablet with the Slides app.

  • PowerPoint for iOS updated to 1.8, allows Apple Watch to be used as a remote control

    This is actually pretty interesting.

    The newest version of Microsoft PowerPoint for iOS includes a feature that allows you to manage your live presentation on your Apple Watch, progressing through each slide without having to pick up your smartphone, tablet or Mac or Windows PC.
