Apple Announces 17" eMac, 800 MHz PowerBook G4

eMacApple today announced the eMac an educational iMac that features a 17-inch flat CRT, 700 MHz PowerPC G4 processor, 128 MB RAM and a 40 GB HDD.

”Schools have told us they really like an all-in-one design because it saves space in classrooms and computer labs. The eMac gives you all that and more, besides being easy to set up, use and maintain. There aren’t a lot of extra cords to connect monitors to computers, only one unit to keep track of (instead of having to inventory both a computer and monitor, not to mention separate speakers), and desktop clutter is kept to a minimum.”

As we broke here last week, Apple today also announced upgrades to the PowerBook G4 Titanium. The new PowerBook G4 Titanium features a ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 graphics processor with 32 MB of DDR SDRAM with an enhanced resolution of 1280 x 854 pixels (23 percent more than previous models) along with higher brightness and better color saturation. Also included is a faster 800 MHz PowerPC G4 processor. The addition of a 1 MB of level 3 cache boost performance and, the new integrated Digital Visual Interface (DVI) port for analog and digital video output enables a pure digital connection to Apple’s line of flat-panel displays and the new generation of DVI-equipped digital projectors.
