A number of Mac users reported seeing an unexpected “Device Support Update” fix for macOS Big Sur on Thursday.
The unexpected update lacks details as to what it does on its support page, albeit Apple’s description states that “This update ensures proper updating and restoring for iOS and iPadOS devices with a Mac.”
Apple has yet to comment as to the update.

My update came with a Safari update. Took about a minute to install. Didn’t have issues before the update, and haven’t noticed anything changed after it…
