Apple releases HomePod software version 15.5.1 update, seeks to address bug that could stop music from playing

Apple on Wednesday released its version 15.5.1 update for the HomePod and HomePod mini smart speakers. The update, which arrives only a week and a half after the launch of the 15.5 software for the HomePod, addresses an issue that could cause music to stop playing after a short time.

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ software is installed automatically on the ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌‌ unless the feature is disabled‌‌‌‌, but the ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ can also be manually updated in the Home app via the following the instructions:

Open up the Home app.

Tap on the home icon in the upper left corner of the display.

If you have only one home set up, this will take you directly to settings, so skip directly to Step 5. If you have multiple homes, tap “Home Settings” on the sheet that pops up.

Select your desired home.

Scroll down to “Software Update.”

Pull down from the top of the iPhone or iPad screen to check for an update.

If you’ve tried the update and have any feedback to offer, please let us know about your experience in the comments
