AT&T to initiate robocall blocking service for existing customers “in the coming months”

Because fewer robocalls are a good thing.

AT&T has announced that robocalls will automatically be blocked by default for existing customers “in the coming months.”

The wireless carriers has offered this service to new customers for some time, and will be migrating it to existing customers.

The company stated that its Call Protect service does three things: it detects and blocks fraudulent calls entirely, flags telemarketers and spam calls as “Suspected Spam” when the phone rings, and allows you to maintain a personal block list to specifically block individual numbers.

So, here’s to the hope of far fewer robocalls coming in.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
