  • Apple Music to introduce Set List feature, allowing artists the chance to curate playlists from setlists

Apple Music to introduce Set List feature, allowing artists the chance to curate playlists from setlists

Apple is looking into allowing musicians and bands to curate playlists of their setlists and show them off in the Apple Music app.

The feature would allow the artist. to turn a setlist into a playlist that’s also available in Apple Music. In a shared guide titled ‘Promote your shows with Set Lists’ on the Apple Music for Artists site, Apple suggests connecting your Apple Music Artists account with the concert-info website Bandsintown so that it can automatically sync upcoming show dates. The user can link to an event with the website, manually enter a band and a date, and be able to create playlists of previous shows and future ones.

Unfortunately, these songs may not necessarily be live cute, but rather the studio version or whatever track is available on Apple Music. Still, this could add some variety as to the music you hear from your favorite artists. Apple has also added that artists could make playlists for every show they’re doing on a tour as well.

It’s unknown as to exactly when the feature will appear in Apple Music, but it could help make a neat thing that much more interesting, even if it could also present a potential spoiler as to the upcoming music at hand.

  • Code references point towards progress being made in ChatGPT/Siri/Apple Intelligence integration

Code references point towards progress being made in ChatGPT/Siri/Apple Intelligence integration

It’s the backend/beta code that sometimes reveals the really interesting things on the horizon.

Several references have been discovered in Siri’s ChatGPT integration that Apple seeks to implement ChatGPT support within Siri. ‌Siri‌ code mentions options for ChatGPT-generated text and ChatGPT-generated images, two features that Apple plans to implement soon.

This integration was announced as part of the Apple Intelligence feature set at the Worldwide Developers Conference back in June, with Apple stating that it plans to introduce the functionality before the end of 2024. ChatGPT integration is not yet present in the current software that Apple is testing, although it might be en route for iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2.

With ChatGPT integration, when users ask ‌Siri‌ a complicated question that the personal assistant is unable to handle, ‌Siri‌ will suggest handing the query off to ChatGPT. ChatGPT will provide relevant information, which will be relayed through ‌Siri‌.

ChatGPT will be able to generate both text and images, something Apple Intelligence can do to a certain degree, albeit ChatGPT is more advanced. Apple’s Writing Tools, for example, can offer spelling and grammar assistance or change the tone of something that’s already written, while ChatGPT will be able to generate text from scratch with a simple prompt.

iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and ‌macOS Sequoia‌ 15.1 are expected to see a release on Monday, October 28. If testing follows other .2 updates, the software will be released at some point in December.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.

Apple releases macOS Sequoia 15.1 public beta with Apple Intelligence features

If you’re looking to play with Apple Intelligence on your Mac, now’s your chance.

On Wednesday, Apple released a new macOS Sequoia 15.1 public beta, allowing non-developers to test the software before its October 28 launch.

The beta has begun to include the first Apple Intelligence features. While not all AI functions have been added the date, the beta includes Writing Tools, Siri updates, summaries, AI-powered Focus modes, and smart replies. To use Apple Intelligence features, you need an iPhone 15 Pro, an iPhone 16 model, or M-series Mac or iPad.

The Writing Tool functions become available whenever text is selected, and the function can be used for spell checking, correcting grammar, rewriting your work with a new tone, and summarizing text.

The Siri feature includes a new design that offers a subtle glow around the display, and the Type to Siri means the user doesn’t have to speak to Siri to get answers. Siri can also follow over stumbles in speech and can maintain context between requests. Safari can summarize articles, and there’s a new Reduce Interruptions Focus Mode that intelligently highlights only important notifications.

The Smart Replies feature in Messages and Mail places time-sensitive messages at the top of the inbox, and Photos offers a Memory Movie feature for creating slideshows based on text descriptions, while a Clean Up tool can be used to delete unwanted objects in your photos.

Public beta testers who have signed up for Apple’s beta testing program can download the ‌macOS Sequoia‌ 15.1 update by opening up the Settings app, tapping into the Software Update section, and selecting the Public Beta option.

If you’ve had a chance to play with Apple Intelligence in the macOS Sequoia 15.1 public beta, please let us know about your experience in the comments.
