  • Rumor: Apple to announce Siri-connected speaker system, 10.5-inch iPad Pro at WWDC

    It’s a rumor, but there might be some truth to it.

    KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo has stated that there is a more than 50% chance of Apple releasing a Siri Speaker, an all-new category for the company, at the Worldwide Developers Conference starting June 5th. In addition, he says that there is more than 70% chance of an all-new design 10.5-inch iPad Pro to be announced at the keynote.

    Along with this, Apple is expected to make inevitable operating system announcements in the form of iOS 11, macOS 10.13, tvOS 11 and watchOS 4. KGI has not offered insight into what functionality or changes the new software will bring but it does include some notes about the predicted hardware unveilings.

  • Rumor: Apple to debut Amazon Echo competitor at WWDC in June

    Apple may have an Echo competitor in the works that could be announced at WWDC next month.

    KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo weighed in with details on Apple’s first home artificial intelligence product in a note to investors on Monday. In the note, Kuo stated that he believes there is more than a 50 percent chance that Apple will announce the product at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, before launching it in the second half of the year.

    Kuo also stated that the device would feature a woofer and seven tweeters in order to provide rich sound. He also stated that the unit will be powered by a custom ARM processor equal in power to at least the A8 CPU on the iPhone 6 or newer.

  • WWDC: Flash, older plug-ins to be turned off by default in macOS Sierra, push towards HTML5 continues

    In another sign that Flash is pretty much on its way out, Apple engineer Ricky Mondello announced that Safari 10, which will arrive in the upcoming macOS Sierra operating system, will arrive with legacy plug-ins like Flash turned off by default.

    The Mac maker is planning similar measures with other plug-ins like Java, Silverlight and QuickTime. This move will force websites with both plug-in and HTML5-based media implementations to use their HTML5.

  • WWDC keynote, new features show Apple focusing on meeting needs of female user base

    This is honestly a pretty interesting read.

    An article over on Buzzfeed points out that yesterday’s keynote address at the Worldwide Developers Conference highlighted some changes that Apple seems to be making definitively address the female market.

    In doing so, Apple seems to be moving some of its focus away from addressing the male market. Like Pinterest and similar services, the female market seems to be the new focus of attention for Apple’s future markets.

  • WWDC: Apple reveals iOS 10 details at WWDC

    Yesterday, Apple officially announced iOS 10 at its Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco. The upcoming mobile operating system 10 primary new features, going as follows:

    User Experiencer: This incorporates an all-new lock screen, a refreshed overall look, the Control Center looks new, the lock screen now has widgets, and 3D Touch features are added to the lock screen. Widgets also appear in the Today view as usual plus the 3D Touch quick actions menu for new iPhones.

    Siri: Starting with iOS 10, developers will have the ability to add features to Siri using a new SDK. Federighi used WeChat as an example. The UI for Siri looks similar, but now apps that work with Siri have much richer interface.
