As nifty as macOS Big Sur is, it seems to be causing some problems with older MacBook Pros.
A number of users with older 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pros have reported that their notebooks are essentially bricked and won’t boot after installing the update, while others have cited issues with kernel panics and crashes.
The majority of these users seem to be owners of the late 2013 and mid-2014 13-inch MacBook Pro.
Apple has yet to offer an official comment as to the reported issues.
In short, you might want to wait until these issues have been sorted out before downloading and installing Apple’s latest desktop and notebook operating system.
