Microsoft announces iOS support for Xbox Game Pass, shoots for spring 2021 launch

If you’re hankering for additional gaming on your iOS device next year, you’re going to like this.

Microsoft announced on Wednesday that Xbox Game Pass, its cloud-based gaming service, will arrive on iOS in the spring of 2021.

Back in October, Microsoft gaming chief Phil Spencer stated that Xbox Game Pass will operate as a web app for iOS players. This allows Microsoft to circumvent App Store rules which forbid packaged streaming gaming apps. Apple, in turn, has expressed a preference that these games to be submitted as individual apps.

Here’s the current Xbox Game Pass launch lineup:

  • Halo Infinite
  • Psychonauts 2
  • The Ascent
  • The Medium (console launch exclusive)
  • The Gunk (console launch exclusive)
  • Warhammer 40K: Darktide (console launch exclusive)
  • Exomecha (console launch exclusive)
  • Shredders (console launch exclusive)
  • Scorn
  • Skatebird
  • Dead Static Drive
  • The Good Life

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
