Red Sweater releases MarsEdit 5

In the vein of rather useful and nifty apps, Red Sweater Software has released MarsEdit 5, the latest version of its microblogging application.

The new version includes the following fixes and changes:

Streamlined Microposting: The new Microposting feature makes it as easy to post to your blog as it is to post to Twitter. Share your thoughts effortlessly with a global keyboard shortcut that pops up a minimalist post editor.

Markdown Syntax Highlighting: MarsEdit now offers live, inline coloring and styling of Markdown-formatted text. Embrace the simplicity of plain text while enjoying the benefits of contextual styling.

All-new Rich Text Editor: The WYSIWYG rich text editor uses Apple’s latest WebKit technologies for a higher performance, more reliable editing interface that will gain advantages as Apple continues investing in the frameworks.

Usability Enhancements: Subtle improvements around every corner. Inline find & replace improves upon the old find panel. A new calendar-based date panel makes scheduling easier. And an iOS device can now be used to easily add a sketch or photo directly to a post.

MarsEdit 5 requires macOS 10.15.4 or later to install and run.

The update is free for MarsEdit 4 users who purchased a license on or after June 1, 2022. For all other licensed MarsEdit 4 users, the upgrade fee is $29.95. For all other users the one-time purchase price is $59.95.

Users who purchased the in-app purchase via the Mac App Store can obtain the same upgrade discounts within the Mac App Store version of MarsEdit 5, when it becomes available, by locating a valid copy of MarsEdit 4 with premium features unlocked.

If you’re had a chance to try MarsEdit 5, please let us know about experience in the comments.
