Apple is rumored to bring back its Smart Battery Case, launching a new model with the iPhone 17 Air in September.
Per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has “at least considered/tested” a case for the iPhone 17 Air that “surrounds the edges but doesn’t cover the back.”
Apple originally offered a Bumper case similar to this for the iPhone 4 back in 2010.
Gurman didn’t offer any further details, and it’s unknown if the Bumper-style case is still in Apple’s consideration/testing phase.
Apple is also said to be working on a Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 17 Air. Given that the upcoming slim device might have to compromise on its battery life, this would offer additional battery life as needed. Apple last offered a Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 11 series back in 2019.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
