AirPods AirPods Pro Apple retail Rumor

Rumor: Next-gen AirPods Pro units release may be delayed until second half of 2020, sometime in 2021

You might have to wait a bit longer for the upcoming generation of AirPods Pro earbuds.

Per supply chain sources cited by DigiTimes, Apple is likely to delay the launch of the next generation AirPods Pro units to the second half of 2020, or to some point in 2021:

Apple likely to defer new AirPods Pro launch
Apple is likely to defer the launch of its new AirPods Pro to the second half of 2020 or even 2021, according to sources at related suppliers.

Back in March, it was rumored that Apple’s suppliers would begin production of a new entry-level version of the AirPods Pro between the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second quarter. This time frame has proven malleable, especially in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak and pandemic.

Earlier this month, leaker Jon Prosser claimed Apple was looking to release a so-called “AirPods X” product around September or October with a BeatsX-like design for sports and running. It’s thought that the “AirPods X” units and the entry-level AirPods Pro are one and the same.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
