  • Apple releases iOS 10.3 update

    iOS 10.3 is out and ready to go.

    Apple on Monday released iOS 10.3, the latest version of its mobile operating system for its iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices.

    The update, which weighs in at about a 2.4 gigabyte download, offers the following fixes and changes:

    Find My iPhone:
    – View the current or last known location of your AirPods.

    – Play a sound on one or both AirPods to help you find them.

  • Rumor: Apple could start production of iPhone 8 earlier than expected

    Apple could start production of its next-gen iPhone earlier than expected.

    Per BlueFin Research Partners, there’s “some indication” from the supply chain that Apple will ramp up production of the iPhone 8 starting in June, but that doesn’t necessarily point towards an earlier non-September release date.

    The report offers the following quote:

    The most intriguing data points that we have uncovered suggests that AAPL is ramping the next generation iPhones earlier than historical norms, although we have no indication that there has been any change in release plans for the iPhone 8/X.[…]

  • “Find My AirPods” feature emerges in iOS 10.3 Public Beta 1

    If you’re an iOS public beta tester, this could be pretty neat.

    Apple has released the first iOS 10.3 public beta for developer testing on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. iOS 10.3 public beta 1 follows two days after the first developer version of the upcoming software update.

    The iOS 10.3 public beta 1 includes the following new features and changes, including the first chance to play with the :Find My AirPods” app:

  • Rumor: iPhone 8 to receive OLED display, updated 3D Touch sensor hardware

    The current rumors are in and according to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new OLED iPhone will use a flexible display panel, which will likely allow it to curve around the sides of the main chassis. However, this makes it incompatible with the existing 3D Touch pressure sensors seen in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 7.

    As a result, the next-gen iPhone will switch from a ‘FBCB sensor to a film sensor’, offering higher sensitivity and a wider range of 3D Touch pressure levels.
