  • Wi-Fi, similar signals don’t cause cancer

And now for a bit of good news: Apparently Wi-Fi and similar signals don’t cause cancer.

Per an article over on HowStuffWorks, everyday devices such as Wi-Fi routers, smartphones, tablets, and computers are unable to cause cancer, and would be unable to do so without rewriting the basic laws of physics and biology.

The piece, which cites credible sources like the American Cancer Society, there have been two types of studies that look at RF radiation: Ones that observe human cancer rates and others involving lab animals. The human studies haven’t found a link between increased cancer rates and people exposed to a significant amount of RF radiation.

  • August 2017 Apple Park drone footage shows new landscaping details, Steve Jobs Theater near completion

It’s one of the final sets of drone footage of the Apple Park campus as it’s under construction, but it highlights the ever-growing landscape and offers a close-up of the uncovered Steve Jobs Theater.

Per Matthew Roberts’ footage, the interior of the “spaceship” greenery looks to be near complete. A large portion of the heavy equipment has been removed from the site has been removed, with only one crane remaining out of the eight seen in previous videos.

  • “Spaceship Campus 2” dubbed “Apple Park”, will open in April

Apple’s upcoming corporate headquarters, long dubbed “Spaceship Campus 2” (which was awesome), has been renamed “Apple Park” and will open its doors in April, though the migration of more than 12,000 workers will take over six months to complete.

The facility is not yet completed, as constructions of buildings and parklands will continue through the summer, but by April enough will be done to begin hosting employees for work.

The facility, which was designed in collaboration with Foster + Partners, replaces 5 million square feet of asphalt and concrete with grassy fields, along with over 9,000 drought-resistant, California-native trees.

The camera, known as RearVision, functions as a set of rearview cameras that fit around your license plate and sync with your smartphone. The differentiator is the attention to quality and detail that Apple is known for.

  • Apple to convert failed GT Advanced Technologies Arizona factory into data center

    sapphirefactory

Remember that whole sapphire iPhone screen thing? When an idea goes south, you can still use the intended facility for something.

Following GT Advanced Technologies’ plans to file for Chapter 11, Apple appears to be swooping in with a plan to invest US$2 billion to convert their Arizona factory into a data center.

The more than 1.3 million-square-foot building, which was once a solar-panel factory, was a key part of Apple’s efforts to bring manufacturing back to the U.S. after years of relying on Asian suppliers to build the company’s iPhones, iPads and Mac computers. While Apple had promised to bring jobs to the area even after the bankruptcy, the data center will probably employ fewer staff compared with an operation churning out components for iPhones.
