  • Rumor: Apple working on augmented reality headset for 2020 release

    It looks like Apple may be betting on an augmented reality headset.

    The company is said to be working to have the technology ready for an augmented-reality headset in 2019 and could ship a product as early as 2020.

    Unlike the current generation of virtual reality headsets that use a smartphone as the engine and screen, Apple’s device will have its own display and run on a new chip and operating system, according to sources close to the story. The development timeline is very aggressive and could still change, said the people, who requested anonymity to speak freely about a private matter.

  • Apple iCar round up article released, addresses everything that’s currently known

    Beyond all the rumors and speculation and theory, these guys did the digging.

    A lengthy article over on autocar.co.uk describes billions of dollars in R&D, more than 1,000 developers, an assortment of mysterious workshops and a name – the “iCar” – that could be the biggest thing to the auto industry since Karl Benz’s ground breaking Benz Patent-Motorwagen first introduced the world to the motorised carriage 130 years ago.

    The piece describes a shell company, an assortment of innocuous real estate and properties and the project, termed “SG6”, as being housed in Sunnyvale, California with only city council documents pointing to it.

  • Apple leases former Pepsi bottling plant in Sunnyvale, thought to be working on car project out of this and other buildings

    The Apple real estate empire has once again grown.

    This time, Apple appears to have leased a 96,000 square foot industrial property that had once served as a Pepsi bottling plant in Sunnyvale, California. News of the lease has just recently surfaced and it is not clear how long Apple has been at the location.

  • Apple leases additional campus space in Sunnyvale, Jay Paul Co. credited with the deal

    The process of Apple pretty much buying out the entire South Bay real estate market continues.

    Today, it was revealed that the Jay Paul Co. is in advanced discussions to acquire Landbank Investments LLC’s massive “Central & Wolfe” development site in Sunnyvale, where Apple Inc. has leased a huge, Space Age-style office complex planned to be built there, according to industry sources.

    Three sources outside the deal have stated that San Francisco-based Jay Paul has been picked as the buyer. The deal isn’t complete, and it’s unclear whether or not the transaction has gone nonrefundable. Scott Jacobs, CEO of Landbank, declined to comment on Wednesday. Jay Paul Co.’s chief investment officer, Matt Lituchy, declined to comment Thursday.

  • Apple leases additional office space, expands to Sunnyvale, San Jose

    The Apple expansion continues.

    In recent weeks, it’s been discovered that Apple has leased another major project in Sunnyvale — a two-building, 215,000-square foot office park that’s wrapping up construction at North Mathilda Ave. and W. Maude Ave. The project, from Christensen Holdings, is in a business district that’s already thick with Apple outposts.

    This is not a completely new change, as the Mathilda Tech Center in Sunnyvale is located in a thick of office buildings already occupied by Apple.

    It’s expected that Apple will continue to lease buildings in this segment of Sunnyvale, known as “Peery Park”.
