  • AirPods reportedly sold out in week before Christmas

It may be harder to find Apple’s AirPods in time for Christmas.

Over on Apple’s online store, the company is now quoting delivery of the units in the first and second weeks of January. As such, you might have to hunt around for the headphones if you want to get them under the Christmas tree for a loved one on the 25th.

Best Buy, Verizon, and Sprint all list early January delivery dates or no availability at all. B&H also shows AirPods as back-ordered. AT&T seems to have some availability for 2-day shipping, but be sure to act fast as that could change within a few minutes.

  • J.P. Morgan analyst predicts September launch for next-gen iPhone, units to be available in lower quantities

He’s straying from the pack a bit, but analyst Rod Hall of J.P. Morgan has offered a statement predicting that Apple will continue to support the concept of a “super cycle” after the “iPhone 7s” family and “iPhone 8” launch. However, because of possible OLED screen issues related to Touch ID, launch quantities will likely be constrained.

    applelogo1

The good news is that Apple made billions and billions of dollars in profits last quarter.

The bad news is that this represents a lower profit than Q2 of 2015.

For the first time ever, iPhone sales fell for the quarter. While this doesn’t include iPhone SE sales, Apple reported its first quarterly revenue decline in 13 years on Tuesday, which came as no surprise to the company and the investors and analysts who closely follow its finances.

After more than a decade of amazing revenue and profit leaps, Apple reported $10.5 billion in profits on $50.6 billion in sales. iPhone sales were down, the company selling only 51.2 million units in Q2, this number falling short of the 61.2 million iPhone units sold in Q2 of 2015.
