Apple adds Mid-2012 MacBook Pro, the first MacBook Pro to feature a Retina display, to its obsolete products list

The landmark MacBook Pro with a Retina display is now officially obsolete according to Apple.

The mid-2012 MacBook Pro, which was also the first MacBook Pro to feature a Retina display, has been added to Apple’s obsolete hardware list. This list marks hardware as obsolete after is sales have been discontinued for seven years, implying that Apple does not offer hardware service.

Vintage products, meanwhile, are those that Apple has not sold for over five years but have been discontinued less than seven years. Unlike products on the obsolete list, vintage product owners can still receive hardware services from Apple and Apple service providers subject to inventory being available and dependent on legal requirements.

It’s not the happiest news, but time and Apple products move on, even though this was a beautiful machine for its time and is still pretty awesome even now.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
