Apple releases macOS Big Sur 11.6 update, focuses on security fixes

Apple on Tuesday released macOS Big Sur 11.6, its sixth major update to its macOS Big Sur operating system, which was first released in November 2020.

The update comes only a month after the release of its macOS Big Sur 11.5.2 bug fix update, and addresses a number of security concerns. Specifically, the update hones in on an issue that could allow a maliciously crafted PDF to execute code. Apple says that it is aware of a report that this bug may have been actively exploited.

Apple also released a significant security update for its macOS Catalina operating system, which provides the same fixes as the macOS Big Sur 11.6 update.

The new ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌macOS Big Sur‌‌‌‌‌‌ 11.6 update can be downloaded all eligible Macs using the Software Update section of System Preferences.

If you’ve had a chance to try the macOS Big Sur 11.6 update, please let us know about your experience in the comments.
