If you’ve been tinkering with Linux, you’re going to like this.

The Linux 5.13 kernel, which is currently shipping under the code name “Opossums on Parade” has been updated, complete with preliminary support for Apple’s M1 Silicon hardware.

Per the press release:

Linux 5.13 brings initial but still early support for the Apple M1 with basic support but not yet accelerated graphics and a lot more to iron out moving ahead. There are also new Linux 5.13 security features like the Landlock LSM, Clang CFI support, and optionally randomizing the kernel stack offset at each system call.

This will definitely come in handy if you decide to tinker with Linux on your M1-based Mac.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
