Nokto announces Artifact newsreader now available to all users

On Wednesday, software developer Nokto announced via a Medium post that its Artifact 1.50 newsreader is now available to download and use, and that the waitlist and phone number are no longer required. Artifact uses an artificial intelligence system to help find articles that might be interesting or relevant to the user.

The software is available for download on iOS and Android, and the new version offers the following fixes and changes:

  • See what’s popular in your network: You’re now able to connect your contacts and see articles that are popular in your network. By connecting your contacts, you’ll start seeing articles with a special badge when they’ve been read by at least several of your contacts.
  • Visualize your reading history: After you read 10 articles, you’ll start seeing stats on what you read the most from your profile. We’ll show you your top categories, publishers and topics and keep it updated as you read.
  • Tell us when you don’t like an article or publisher: On any article page, you now will see a thumbs down icon. By tapping it you can tell us why you don’t like an article or publisher and take actions to see fewer articles like it or less from that publisher.
  • No phone number required: You can get started immediately using Artifact just by selecting your favorite interests. But if you’d like, you can now add a phone number from Profile which will save your preferences and history. Adding a phone number allows you to log in across devices or regain access if you get a new phone.
