Rumor: Leaked 3D CAD images show iPhone 15 design, Dynamic Island may be present on all models

Apple’s Dynamic Island feature may be entirely standard, no matter which iPhone 15 model you buy this year.

According to 9to5Mac and a series of leaked three-dimensional CAD files that supposedly show what the iPhone 15 will look like, the Dynamic Island feature could be present on all versions of the iPhone 15, even though it was previously only available on the 14 Pro/Pro Max.

The Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max is a sensitive topic. Some users hate it, seeing it as a simple notch rebrand with very minor changes. Others have embraced it and even developed apps to use that small part of the screen. The good news for the latter group is that they can continue using the Dynamic Island with their favorite first- and third-party apps.

The CAD files have also revealed the presence of a USB-C port on the iPhone 15 as opposed to Apple’s propriety Lightning standard. This will be the means by which the iPhone 15 will plus in and transfer files, and was driven partly by an EU directive that said Apple has to comply with USB-C by 2024.

The rear of the iPhone 15 will remain relatively unchanged from the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 series. There are still two lenses in a “stove top” style on the back of the regular models, and three on the Pro models.

Apple is also rumored to be including capacitive haptic buttons rather than tangible ones. Those were missing from the CAD files, and it’s speculated they’ll come to the Pro models first—just like the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro.
