Unity’s PolySpatial development tools enter the beta stage, offering tools to create games for the Vision Pro headset

Some interesting tools are being developed for Apple’s Vision Pro headset as a gaming platform.

As of Wednesday, Unity’s “PolySpatial” development platform reached the beta stage, allowing developers to create and port over 3D experiences like games to Apple’s forthcoming headset.

The PolySpatial toolset was developed in collaboration with Apple and was announced at WWDC in June. The software offers familiar workflows to those who have already used the Unity Engine to reduce friction in the development process. Unity’s authoring and simulation features are combined with RealityKit’s managed app to offer a familiar experience. PolySpatial also offers access to features such as pass-through, Dynamic Foveated Rendering, AR Foundation, and XR Interaction Toolkit.

According to TechCrunch, PolySpatial can also be used to port existing games to ‌visionOS‌.

Unity has not yet offered a time frame for the public release of PolySpatial, but developers who signed up for the beta are being given early access in waves starting today.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
