Apple releases tvOS 16.3.3 update, chases after Siri Remote connectivity bug

Apple on Monday released tvOS 16.3.3, an update that apparently seems to focus on a long-standing connectivity issue between the third-generation Apple TV 4K and the Siri Remote that ships with the unit.

The update to tvOS 16.3.3 arrives a few weeks after the release of tvOS 16.3.2 in mid-February, which fixed Siri request failures. The latest update does its own fixes.

As usual, the update can be located, downloaded, and installed to the Apple TV as an over-the-air installation, performed via the Settings app on the Apple TV under System, then selecting Software Update. It can also be installed automatically if that feature is enabled in tvOS.

Apple’s change log for the tvOS 16.3.3 updates states it “fixes an issue where the Siri Remote can become unresponsive on Apple TV 4K (3rd generation).” While Apple doesn’t mention it, there is also a strong possibility that Apple also included its customary performance and stability improvements.

If you’ve had a chance to try the tvOS 16.3.3 update, please let us know about your experience in the comments.
