iFixit posts Apple Watch Series 5 teardown, highlights new internals, new system-on-chip

Once again, the cool cats at iFixit have torn down the new Apple Watch and posted the report.

The new units incorporates Apple’s new S5 system-on-chip, which allows for twice the storage as well as a new compass. Other reported features include the same CPU and GPU as the Apple Watch Series 4, a similar external look, and minor changes such as redesigned connectors on the Taptic Engine, display, and battery.

The Apple Watch Series 5 sports cases are now made from “100% recycled aluminum,” which tends to be far cheaper than freshly-mined aluminum.

If you’re curious about the innards of your brand-spanking-new Apple Watch Series 5, take a gander and please let us know about your experience in the comments.
